I was stationed in RVN 25 JAN 1968 to 15 SEP 1969 with USARPAC. SP5 at the end of my second tour (I extended for six months), I was posted to Nha Trang (JAN-APR 1968), and Pleiku (MAY-JUN 1968), in the 518TH SIGNAL COMPANY (RRUHF); at Pleiku on Tropo Hill I operated a TRC-29 microwave site (518th Sig. Co.--Det. 11). Then went to Da Nang (JUL 1968-SEP 1969) at USASTRATCOM--LONG LINES DET. (AREA) DA NANG, or LONG LINES BN. NORTH. Later, the same post was named DA NANG DET., CO. B, 361st SIG. BN. At Da Nang I operated an AN/MRC-85 Tropo Scatter van at Danang Air Base and, for the last five months, was company clerk. Welcome communications from JIM ROBERTSON, and others from my time in Indochina.

. I was a Dustoff Crew Chief and flew out of Dong Tam. I was also in volved in several major battles during my tour. The most note able was 19 Jun 67 when 4th Bn got chewed up at Rach Nui. We got the call and there were 39 KIA at that time, by the time we got there it only got worse. We Made our approach and all of a sudden our Hydrolics went out an our electrical system got all screwed up. Unfortunately we never got to do a pick up and I have felt so bad about that since then. We knew if we landed that the ship would most likely blow up causeing more death and distruction.

My husband was a picture of perfect health on July 31st of 2005 we found out that he had bile duct cancer it took the VA in Indianapolis Indiana a long time to decide what to do they told me that at a T1 stage that he had a 80% good chance of coming home and living with in his means..They done sugery on Aug 16th 2005 and he died on Aug 19th of 2005 they called me at 3:15 in the morning wanting me to let my daughter turn him off I refused till I got there when I got there they kept saying that they thought he had a heart attack didn't I and I said no we were told of no heart problems in him only what i seen on the medical recrords after his death.. I argued with the hospital from 4am till after 6am that I wanted an autopsy after getting it and getting the papers signed they turned him off what killed my husband was not a heart attack but was 7 litters of blood in him where he bleed out..I know that my husband isn't the only Vietnam vet that had and has this cancer I am trying to get the VA to accept this the bile duct operates the pancase that in return makes suger so they are all hooked togather
God Bless all our VETS
