My name is Meredith Antushevich, my father Walter E. Antushevich Jr. served for the US Army in 1967. Forgive me, I'm unsure about specific terminology, but I believe his last assignment was "Co D 19th Engr Bn CBT Army". He died from lung cancer over four years ago and I'm looking for anyone that may have served with him. I came across a photo of him and two gentlemen, Jim Salvatore and Kit. Mitchell at the retiring seargents parade on June 29, 1967 in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Please contact me if you have any information.

Many WW2 vets served in Vietnam

Many WW2 veterans served in Vietnam as late as 1970 (just as a sizeable number of Vietnam veterans are serving in Iraq today... 30+ years after the Vietnam War ended.)

Probably the most famous WW2 vet who served in Vietnam was General William C Westmoreland who commanded a battalion in Germany (Battle of the Bulge) during WW2. The following is but one of thousands of Americans who continued to serve long after WW2...

Hello to all. It has taken a long time for me to reach this point, but here I am. I served in Vietnam in 1965-66, with the 1st Admin Company, 1st Infantry Division, at Di An. Having worked for the division IG, I had a good (relatively safe) job in comparison to many of my fellow soldiers. And, I often have guilt feelings because of it, even after all these years. I know many of you men and women had it much rougher than I did, and, no doubt, many of you continue to lead a troublesome life today because of the ill effects from that war. Although I wasn't out in the jungles and rice paddies, I, too, suffer from being exposed to Agent Orange: diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, diabetic retinopathy, depression, and severe panic disorder. Of course, anxiety and depression are not listed as being caused from Agent Orange, but I know in my mind that it had its effect nonetheless. I read recently read that a study was done involving Vietnam veterans in New Zealand, and it was discovered that all who were tested had their DNA altered, and, more than likely, the DNA of their offspring had been altered as well. It makes me wonder what I have done to my two sons and two grandsons. Both my sons suffer from anxiety and depresson, both are pre-diabetic, and my oldest son has leukemia. Can you imagine the guilt feelings I have because of all this? In 2002, I published a book entitled River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood. Chapter 13 describes my Vietnam experience. If you wish to read it, you can visit a website called AuthorsDen. Please copy and paste the following address: http://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewshortstory.asp?id=15544. There are other chapters from the book on this site as well. In closing, I would like to say that I pray for the remainder of what years God gives you to be pleasant and painless, both physically and mentally. If you are one who is in close contact with our Creator, then please whisper a prayer for me as well. From the hills of West Virginia, I am,

Sincerely yours,

David Lee Thompson

Thank you to all veterans who have given themselves for the sake of freedom. My father, Brent Fox, III, passed away this week. He was a U.S. Marine who served proudly in Vietnam. I would love to hear from anyone who knew him. I am also looking for any information about a Navy photograper who photgraphed my scared young father in the jungle on March 26, 1966. I've been told the photo was run in the Washington Post as well as recently in Time Magazine. I was given a copy of Tyee with the shot on the cover. Since memories are all I have left I'd like to learn more about my father and the experience that shaped all of our lives. Thank you for any information that you can share. By the way, I do know that he was Charlie 1-5.

I was with Service Battery, 5/42 FA, at Camp Price near Long Binh from October 69 to October 70. I was the rations driver and worked for CWO Mead in S-4. And also worked for SFC Riggs and SFC Thomson in the mess hall. Anyone remember SFC
Lambreth (Maybe SP/7 Lambreth, also called "Pop"? All with the mess hall. And I also worked closely with SSG Blevins and SFC Greer who were with the motor pool. Im looking to hear from anyone in HQ or Service Batteries that were there at the time. C-Battery, 5/2d Arty, (nickel-deuce) was the other unit with us at Camp Price. If anyone there remembers me, email me as well!
WELCOME HOME!
