I am a Canadian teen doing some of my own personal research on the subject, while being inspired by yet another of Noam Chomskys' books. This site was very informative and very personal. A worth-while stop.

As i am a vietnamese and as i know, Vietnam was reigned by kings, and the last king is Bao Dai under the support of France. Mr. Hochiminh, who wanted that reign, organized the opposition group (with many names changed time by time) to overthrow the king Bao Dai. The French forces was too strong then, until the battle of Dien Bien Phu surrounded by the forces of Mr. Hochiminh. The French gave up the domination on Vietnam together with the king Bao Dai to sign a treatment of the division of Vietnam into 2 with Mr. Hochiminh. Then, the king Bao Dai surrender the reign "king" to authorize Mr. NgodinhDiem to form a Republic government to run the South Vietnam. Mr. Hochiminh saw then, and wanted to unitificating the country by military forces. Mr. Hochiminh organized a group to liberate the South Vietnam in 1960 and ended up in 1975. The new Vietnam war then 1960-1975, but unluckily, Mr. Hochiminh died in 1969 not to see the unification of the country. The war was not worth for million of Vietnamese died unknowly, led the poor country to be poorer, million of Vietnamese escaped the new communist regime to reside in other free countries, million of Vietnamese died during the escaping, million of vietnamese families were divided from physically to spriritually and morally up to today and the consequences of the war, that the vietnamese people have to suffer up to today and may be later to at least the century of 22 or 23. Do you think is that war worth for those said above created by Mr. Hochiminh and his communist party ? The military forces of United States came into South Vietnam by the request of the South Vietnam government to help the desperated military forces of the South Vietnam government to defeat the military forces of Mr. Hochiminh and his party. It does not mean the U.S. forces invaded the South VN in 1965 caused the military forces of the North Vietnam came into the South in 1960.

Nostalgic comments from many brothers. Served with the First Air Cavalry running supplies from Cam Ran Bay to Da Nang and thereabouts. Was a supply sergeant and part time door gunner on a Huey, 1964-1965. Was hit by shrapnel from a Russian Katusha Rocket, 175mm in the arm and stomach. Also I had my bought with skin cancer five years ago from the defoliant, orange, blue and green. Presently I am an XO Cpt. in Alpha Co., 1st Batallion, Oregon State Defense force along with other Nam vets and we all help each other with the PTS syndrome. We all love our country and would do it it again if asked. I appreciate being an American and and tell younger troopers how we live in the best country in the world and should give thanks to our earlier American Patriots who served their country and gave the supreme sacrifice.

I was in Nam Jun 68 - Jul 69 with USMC 1st Force Recon Co. I was a scout/sniper. II came home for almost 10 years and acted like it did not happen. Then I started getting help for PTSD and agent orange, mainly. Please, you Viet vets, get to the DAV and the VA and get treatment. Get your claims in and get the treatment and compensation you need and deserve. Time will pass and it will get worse if you do not. Be aware. God bless you all and I pray daily for all of you who are still suffering from events of 35 years ago. Email or call me if you need help. Semper Fi. Thanks for making this site available. It matters. Hello Vets, I too am a Vet of the conflict during Sep 1967 thru Oct 1968. I was what is know as a CAP Marine. We were stationed in the Villiages and helped with the Security of the Villiages, did Medical Care and helped with building and re-building of schools, homes and emergency centers amoung other duties to long to list. We basicly helped where we could. Sort of like what you guys are doing now. The only exception is that we had to kill and/or get killed to help them. Your way is better. Keep up the good work." Was stationed at Tuy Hoa, Vietnam from Dec. 68 to Dec. 69. The men I served with were the best I have been around. Not a day goes by and I don/t think about those days. Every day I hope and pray that Col. Whittford and Capt. Carrol will be brought back home. I try each day to live up to those who were not able to come home and to those who served before, during and after my time.
