Served in Vietnam from Mach 70 to Jun 1971 with CBMU-302. Served with NAVCAT-11 at Hon Khoi and NAVCAT-18 at Saigon Block Plant. Most meaningful assignment. Bivouacked on a Korean Marine Whit Horse base. One night we were attacked with mortars and and Marines and US Army Huey gunships laid down fire and flairs to VC. Field artillery guns fired every five minutes at nearby mountain. After first night I never heard the guns firing.I worked with a great bunch of men at both locations.
