How odd to first find this site on January 30.It is six PM' here in michigan so it is 6 AM on the 31, in VietNam. Thirty eight years ago tonight the Tet Offensive began. I had just gotten out of the hospital at Pendleton and had reported to 2/13 on 1/20/68
I had volunteered to go back to VietNam on the 22nd with anticipated pre deployment leave. On the morning of 2/1/68 we had orders at 0800 and wheel up out of El Torro at 1235. Back to VN. As I sit here typing I remember the men who we left behind.Samoan, Frenchy and others. I was in country for a very long time. I can't say that I loved it but I never hated it. I was a corpsman with the marines and I never felt more comradship than with the marines. thirty one months total service in country with "my boys" may those who made it feel welcome home and those who didn't Semper Fi.
