It's taken almost 35 years to finally have peace with my self.I still don'know if we were right or wrong being there.I think we betrayed those people when we left, not us but our bureaucrats.Vietnam was abeautiful country,if not for the war.If i want remember all i have to do is close my eyes the firefights, explosions cordite smell, cussing and praying becomes very vivid.I once asked a Korean War marine dose it ever go away,He said NEVER. Iserved with 2/4 marines
(Magnificent Bastards) in the I Corps area on the DMZ,every where from outside of Khe Sahn to the Cua Viet River,Con Thien,Cam Lo,Ca Lu,Nhe Ha,Camp Big John,Di Do,LZ Cates,LZ Nevelle,LZ Sheperd,LZ Stud(Vandegrift),Foxtot Ridge,Bloody Nose Ridge,Hill 950,Hill1010 and a bunch of other placesi have proably forgotten. Now i have a question does any one remember lighting or thunder during rain up north?I do'nt,i remember the wind would pick up then it would rain ,rain ,rain never no lighting or thunder. Now i'm not talking about B52 Arc Lights.Am i crazy or there really was'nt lighting or thunder up north. Thanks for your e-mail Happy Independence day and God Bless America.
