Was one of three CID Agents at Phu Loi, RVN l971.Route l3 was the road we travelled by jeep and alone wearing civs and only carrying a .38 pistol. Our AO went north to An Loc and the firebases along the way. In all those travels. I was only fired upon one time by VC. Rounds went over the top of the jeep. Put my head down, grabbed a gear and kept on going.Incoming about every night and was penetrated by VC trying to blow up choppers. The duty was good but I was glad to leave in Dec 71.The 3 of us had a small office and small sandbagged houch we lived in. Our mail came to us at Hqs, Long Binh and travelled 13 to get our mail. We hand delivered our investigative reports to Hqs also. We ate at the O club there at Phu Loi. I worked with Viet police and since I spoke french I could communicate very well with the older ones. I was still glad to catch the freedom bird.
