First I would like to say Thank You to all you veterans out there! I wish I was around years ago to give you all the welcome home you deserved! My father is a Vietnam Veteran (SP5 Teich, Americal 26th Engineer Battalion, '68-'69). My husband is currently in the military and I see how different things are now then they were back when you served in Vietnam. I know I will never be able to help erase the horrible memories my father has of the war, give him back the life a normal kid had at the age he was drafted, or take away the hurt of not having a welcome home. Since I have grown up though, I have done everything I can to give him recognition he never got for his part in the war so many years ago. I can only hope it helps to know that at least someone is thinking of that part of his life. Though he doesn't speak about Vietnam often, it warms my heart knowing he can talk to me about it because I have acknowledged his sacrifice and understand it more then anyone else in our family. I'm not sure how he would feel about getting in touch with more of the people he served with, but if you would like to get in touch with him you can contact me and I will see what I can do. I know when I was younger we took a family vacation and made a few stops to see some old Vietnam friends of his, but most of them have passed on now.
Please wait...
