I commanded Co D, 4th Bn, 31st Inf, 196th LIB, from Ft Devens to Vietnam. I think that my living days are coming to an end, but I wish to tell you, that as long as men of your caliber wear our Army uniforms, the precarious destiny of our nation shall never falter before any enemy, foreign or domestic. The bravery you showed in the battlefields of Vietnam are a clear indication that the generations of soldiers that will follow your steps will stand another Valley Forge or Monte Casino. Our country is in debt to you, feel proud of that. May your Creator bless you forever.
