I'm looking for members of the 57th Transportation Battalion Hq & Hq company that served in Chu Lai from 6/5/1969 to 6/5/1970 or any member of the other companies assigned to the 57th at that time. I'm in a battle with the VA concerning my claim for PTSD. I have to prove that the stressor happened. I was in the EM club one night probably within the first few months of my tour, there were probably 20 to 25 GIs there and the was a loud explosion just outside of the club. We all took off for the bunkers and just a few yards out the door I almost tripped over the torso of a soldier that had blown himself to bits. Arms, legs, & head all blown away. The rumor was that this soldier planned to throw explosive devices into the club but he was wasted on BTs and blew himself up.
