Any Marines out there who served with Lance Corporal James Huff, of Medina County, Ohio, who served in 68-69 with 2/11 marines, 1st Marine Division? (james was killed in Danang 4/3/69). Im a collector of war letters. I bought a batch of original letters that he mailed to a girl named Kristy Reimer. Maybe I can learn more about James. End of October 1968, James got extended for 6 more months. He was planning to go home April 1969. His letters are brutally honest. A buddy in the trenches on a hill next to James, lost an arm. James saw guys get killed all around him. There was an operation where the helicopter pilot took a bullet, and the co-pilot had to return to base, and the platoon had to board another helicopter to report to a combat position. James was part of a forward observer company. James took shrapnel to his arms and legs a month and a half before he got killed. He healed and went back into the field on ops.
