Welcome Home - Need help with stressors!
I served in the 4th division, Divarty out of Camp Enari mid 1967 through mid 1968. We were artillery surveyors camped right under Signal Mt in that camp. Chi Hodrong (Tittie Mt, Dragon Mt.) loomed over the camp. Most of the time out of base camp on TDY. We would go in as fire bases were set up. We surveyed in a lot of 105 batteries west of Pleiku, Kontum, Dakto. We were a team of 4 or 5 (about 30 men total) guys choppering in with the first gun and worked out an azimuth and tying the battery to the grid so they knew where their rounds were going.
I’m trying to locate anyone who saw or was present or knew about a Huey that crashed and burned while leaving a fire base in the last 5 months of 1967 or Jan of 1968. Our team didn’t get on but bagged bodies and brought them back up to the camp.
Another during the same time was a chopper taking off out of a fire base we had just put in the pitched forward cutting an NCO in half.
Another was a fire base they put on top of a hill with an even bigger tree covered hill almost on top of us. Chow was coming in on a chopper and we planned to get out on that bird. Someone decided to fire a 105 at the mountain and the blast hit at least 2 of the inf. securing the perimeter. Both were taken out by chopper. The guy closest to me had his eye ball hanging down the side of his face. He had under a week left in country. No records exist of these events and I need your help proving they happened.

I’m sure it was during that time because I was in the hospital in Pleiku during TET. Only time I ever let my parents know where I was and the hospital took seven direct rocket hits during that holiday. Odd how these things come back and get you. Please help if any of this sounds familiar and welcome home again.

Thanks
Herb
