I served as an Ensign/Lieutenant (jg) in NMCB-11 (Seabee battalion) who was assigned to III MAF. I served as Assistant Opns Officer in Danang (1966), short pass through in Dong Ha after leaving Chiang Kham, Thailand as OIC of Seabee Team 1109 (1967), Thailand, and as Assistant D Company Cmdr and then Special Roadwork Officer in A Co. in Quang Tri (1968), Vietnam. I designed the III MAF R&R Center at China Beach, Danang East, Vietnam during the summer of 1966. Our battalion constructed the infrastructure including the 480-man amphitheater, living quarters, library, chapel, showers, etc. A nice place. Please check out our MCB-11 Association WebSite.
