Returned to Viet Nam in time for the Vietnamese New Year in Jan 2006. First time back since Oct 1967. Visited Saigon, Chu Chi, Hanoi and Ha Llong Bay. It was different when there is no fighting goin on.
Most of the large Japanese companies have factories there. Lots of industrialization and development going on.
Some of the people my age who lived "free" then and now under the communist regime stated that if they knew then what they know now they would have support the US. Corruption is as bad or worse then when the Diem bothers or Thieu or Ky were in power.
The museum in Saigon was a little emotional as was the Hanoi Hilton. We had in our group a retired admiral who was a POW and he found his cell that he spent 6 years in.
Once agin welcome home all.
