I Served with the 1st. Inf. Div. Scout Dog unit @ Xion in 67, and was transferred to the 4th. Inf. Div. 1/10th. Air Cav. @ Pleiku during thet in 68, and then to An Khe when the 4th. Div. moved there. I filled a door gunner slot till a great brother named Gary Brewer (Crew Chief) rotated, then I assumed his position as Crew Chief on the UH1H. The last two months in country I requested to give up my position as Chief, and become a part of the rapid deploy platoon, and back on the ground again. It was granted, and I was with those great guys that I inserted in "hot spots." I felt more comfortable being with them, than looking in there eyes as I left. A Great bunch of guys was with me at that time. I still smell the place at times, especially during early Spring, or Fall. I hear similar sounds from time to time, and when a chopper flies where I live the memories are very real. I still have the sweats, and have to set in a restaurant facing the door. Probably like most of us! I'm glad I happened across this page, I wish the best to all my brothers, and may you find some peace from time to time. Roy
