I served with A Co., 1st AntiTank Bn., and H&S Co., 1st Tank Bn., 1st MarDiv from late '67 until early '69 after extending my tour to get an early discharge from the USMC. I tried very hard for many years to put the memories of Vietnam behind me. But, as I get older, the ghosts come back to haunt me more often now. Not just of my Marine brothers, but of the friends I grew up with that I lost then. I would very much like to go back to Vietnam someday to see if I could leave the ghosts and the memories behind.
