a.k.a. Dutch. Navy Corpsman HM3. Camp Tien Sha Disp.& Deep Water Pier Disp. 4/68 to 4/69. Day job was VD Control agent "Pecker-checker", and business was always brisk. If the names "Cabbage Patch, Dogpatch, and The graveyard" bring back memories, you probably caught something I had to treat.
Significant events that involved me:
May/68 rockets hitting LST lots of army casualties, they were sleeping topside when they got hit.
Triangle Ammo depot going up,
DWP getting hit, twice.
Camp Tien Sha itself getting hit in early 69.
YFU blown out of the bay near I Corp Bridge (also early 69)..
Night runs to Son cha, Usom (s.i.c.) Hospital, NSA Hospital.
Oh yeah, my first time up Monkey Mt. to see Boom Boom Rock.
Looking for HM2 Baker, Frosty, Gabe, Larry Simpson (you still owe me money), HM2 Red Tyler (the flesh is weak), HM3 Steve Burton, HM2 Mike Prewitt, HM2 Lamb, and HM2 Ron Held.
Special thanks to HMC Sparks....best damn CPO I ever had.
I wish you fair weather and calm seas Chief wherever you are.
Please wait...
