I served with Lima 3/1 2nd Platoon as a machine gunner. March 1967 - April 1968. We were the BLT from 12/1967 until I believe April 1968. I was transferred to the office to work on the Stoner Weapons System report in about August 1967 and then back to the field with 2nd platoon. Asked if I wanted to come back to the rear and work in the Company office in October 1967 and undecided if I should come out of the bush or stay with my platoon, finally decided to go to the reat. Saved my life as 12/27/1967 Battalion was badly mauled on the Cua Viet River by Dong Ha. Too many boots at all levels had been brought in for the BLT assignment. 1stSgt Berheide has the story of what happened during the fight, he was medivaced out. Marines are the Best and VWAM is a great organization. Love my brother Marines.
