This is an "outstanding" organization. I served with the 1st Cav Div (Airmobile) Feb 67 - Feb 68 and returned to Vietnam with Vets with a Mission in Sept - Oct 2007 (40 yrs later). It was simply amazing to see what had become of the former Republic of South Vietnam. The 1st thing that struck me is there is absolutely no evidence a 10 year war was waged in the country by American and Vietnamese forces! The second thing is how openly friendly and respectful the Vietnamese are to Americans, especially former military that fought there.

I strongly encourage any former military personnel, that are curious and / or interested, to consider a re-visit to the former Republic of South Vietnam with Vets with a Missiion. Since they are a 501 c3 and its a humanitarian mission, all incurred and related expenses are treated by the IRS as a Federal "tax right off."

Although I never found complete closure with my visit, I was able to reach a point within my mind whereby I realized that we had set in motion, factors that brought capitalism and a degree of democracy to Vietnam for the lives we lost there. I also know within my heart of hearts that the politicians of the time, not us that fought there, lost the Vietnam War!!!!!!!!!!!
