Inducted in New Haven Ct on Mar.23,1966 yes I was a RA not an US or NG, bussed to Ft. Dicks NJ., Basic in Ft. Jackson NC then to Ft Lenard Wood MO. for my 62J20 AIT Got my LBJ Scharlrship to NAM joined the 35th. Cbt Eng Ft. Lewis WA were the Goverment gave me a free boat trip on the William O Darby to the sandy shores of Qui Non . I then joined the D Co. 20th Cbt Eng in Pleaque Central Highlands as a D-7 Cat dozer operator in Fire Base Oasis, Fire base in Plei Djereng. Forget to take my big orange pill and got malaria and was taken by APC to the 67th Evac then flown to Qui Nang, but the stay was short and once again I joined my outfit at Dragon Mountain were the vacation ended in late 1968.Flown back to the States with round eyes woman on the flight to Ft. Ord CA were I got the most upsetting feeling getting off the flight that the people on the other side of the fence did not like anyone who was coming back from in country, But I can say that the steak dinner I got for the year I gave was 1 on the scale of 1-10 Assigned to a Garrison outfit at Camp Steward GA. in Range Control this did not last long as I could not get use to quietness of no morters and strange smells so I got my personal clerk get me a fastest set of orders I could get and shipped out to the 9th. Log. Command outfit in Thailand I was at home with the people with slanted eyes, tanned skin and the smell of the orient. After Once I got home it took a while to get use to people that were not dressed on black pajamas or in olive drab green, I took up with the New London Police Department retiring with 32 years service then back to work at General Dynamics as a Nuclear ore worker repairing and installing reactors on Subs at the Base in Groton Ct. Welcome home to all you have been great friends and I have a lot of memories that will last more then a lifetime anyone remember me feel free to contact me at [email protected].
