I was in country from Oct.68-Dec.69, up at Pleiku. Served with the 561st GS company, attatched to the 52nd avation battalion at Camp Holloway, and also at the camp where the 88th S&S battalion was located. Went back in Dec. 08 with some vets, rode 125cc Hondas up the Ho Chi Minh trail, from Saigon to Da Nang. Couldn't hardly recognize anything except some of the Marines recognized Marble Mtn. and Monkey Mtn. God's Grace is Good!

Hi. I'm a civilian born in 1962. I'm a writer, writing an essay that will hopefully be published in The Good Men Project. My essay is inspired by the incredible personal trials and survival skills of my friend with PTSD, jungle rot and sleepless nights. This man was at Desert Storm, but when I was listening to him, he continued to reference Viet Nam in one way or another, which disturbed me. His references to that war drove me to write about the goodness of him enveloping his survival; he also helped me accomplish something I wouldn't have been able to do without his generosity. The two words "Viet Nam" have been in my life - all my life - even without any immediate family members who are veterans of the Viet Nam War. I don't think I began to be sensitive to anything from this thread of significance until now. Thank you for this web site.

Peace - Dee
