I was originally stationed with the 4th Infantry Division in Pleiku in February 1967 until Junction City claimed many artillerymen in III Corp. I was then transferred to the 1st Infantry Division, A Battery, 2nd Battalion 33rd Artillery in Lai Khe to replace those cannoneers killed or wounded. I spent from March 1967 to April 1968 with the Big Red One. We supported the 1st of the 16th Infantry, 1st of the 18th Infantry, and 2nd of the 28 Infantry during many operations in III Corp. My first operation was Junction city and last was Quyet Thang and Toan Thang I in April 1968. I was wounded during Operation Manhatton in April 1967. I carried a piece of shrapnel home to the states in my back from the Battle for Loc Ninh. I feel humbled by the scores of Brave Men who fought brutally for the Big Red One, some giving their lives. My thoughts and prayers go out to the men of the 2nd of the 28th Infantry who fought and died by the hundreds as we had to stand by to hold fire until the situation became futile.
