I was with the Air Cav with the 586th Sig Co (support) from Sept1966 to Aug 1967 in AnKhe, Vietnam. I was a Field Wireman and Pole Lineman.. I helped supply Communications for the whole first Cav Division while in AnKhe. Our base was right under Hong Kong Mountian. I met alot of friends from the Air Cav in that year and in 1967 I returned for my second tour with the 580th Signal Company in Long Binh. The 586th received plenty of incoming during my tour. Since my return alot of the 586 personell has died from Agent Orange related systems. thanks guys.

I was a Marine stationed at Camp Books, 1st FLC from Nov 10 '67 until Dec '68. I worked at the computer center (inside the steel wall) across from the bakery. One month on perimeter guard in '68. Dec '67 on mess duty - made me miss Bob Hope! I enjoyed playing basketball on that concrete court. Don't remember many names, just faces. Do remember a couple of trips to the beach on the other side of the SeaBee base. Mostly, a good experience for me. Semper Fi.

Served at the Air Force Base at Pleiku 1969-70. I was assigned to the Crash Rescue unit down near the EOD building. I remember that our fire station was facing a squadron of OV-10 FAC's that were parked in the revetments. Was always worried that one of their marker rockets would go off and hit one of our Crash Trucks. Would love to hear from anyone on the base at the time.
