I served in Saigon, Viet Nam from Oct 66 to Oct 67 with the 589th CS Det. The only person that I have ran in to since leaving Viet Nam is Chet Bohannon, now living in Ellensburg. He became an auctioneer. I am a retired Senior Claims adjuster and also retired out of the Army reserve after nearly 30 years. Would like to hear from any of you that served in either this detachment or the sister detachment. We were all pulled out of Germany and France, sent to Fort Monmouth, NJ then on to Viet Nam.

I am searching for any veterans who were in and around the Michelin Rubber Tree Plantation between Cu Chu and Tay Ninh Oct 1970.I was escorting my first convoy through there and ran into ground fire from an ambush .I had only been in country for about 2 weeks and didn't know any of the guys on the convoy. The E-7 who was with me had only 2 weeks left in country, and I can't remember his name.Him and I was with HHC 20th Engineer Brigade at Bien Hoa.The convoy was from one of the engineer units in Long Bien and I don't remember which unit.We had spent the night at the 25th ID at CuChi and the next day we left for Tay Ninh and when we got into the rubber tree plantation all hell broke loose.I was so scared that I left the convoy, and the SFC rolled up like a ball in the floor of the jeep.I found out why he didn't want to go on this trip.We had to wait about 20 minutes for the convoy to catch up with us once we got out of there. If any of you guys were in this area around Oct 1970 and can vouch as to enemy contact I would appreciate hearing from you. Those bastards in Washington don't believe nothing you tell them and when you didn't know where you were at or the guys you were with it's hard to verify anything. And that SFC wasn't taken notes. When you are getting your ass shot at you don't worry to much about taking notes.
God Bless each one Of you Veterans and Bless the one's that didn't make it and their family's.

I am looking for anyone that served with me in 1966 in India Company 3/4 in Operation Hastings? One comrade Tom Hinsdale who was wounded that day make contact and my computer crashed and I lost touch. He was writing a letter on my behalf for the compensation board who said they could not take my word for it that I was in combat! Hell they sent us you would think they would care! I am at 70% and they denied me the other 30% for PTSD and Tinitus because they could not take my word forit!!! I even submitted my combat records from the Dept. of the Navy. If anyone served with me I would appreciated their help with a letter since Hastings was the bloodiest battle since Korea and anyone who fought there knows it! Semper Fi Thanks! Mike Angell 2145939
