Flew into Saigon, Tan Son Nhut Air Port, in 1967. Because my friend Larry H. knew that one of our buddies, Jimmy T.,was stationed at the Naval Support Facility in Cam Rahn Bay, he asked the assignment guy if we could be stationed with him. It worked out for us and I spent the next eighteen months working as an electrician, helping to repair the Swift Boats, LCPLs, LCMs and other various related jobs. Served in '67 & '68. Would like to see pics of CRB from anyone.I would also like to hear from anyone that served there, in that time frame. If Jimmy, Larry, Ray, Gene or Ollie see this, Please email me. Thanks to all who served and supported.

My father retired from the AF in 1967 - sometime in 65-66 he spent time with 5 other guys starting up Camron Bay - if anyone knows of these other guys I'd like to know what stories they may have. My dad is not doing well right now but has talked a bit about throwing pallets overboard and I remember a story from years ago about them wading out into the bay to drink their beer when they were radioed that the VC were on their way (thankfully they never showed up). My dad was in WWII, Korea and VietNam - he is 85 now and retired from the AF shortly after returning to Amarillo AFB because he was transferred to a unit getting ready to deply and he felt it was a younger man's war. Being an AF brat I have always had the utmost respect for all Vets and I have 2 sons in the AF doing their part on the current issues.

Was Platoon Sergeant, later Platoon Commander (after Lt Mark Sandusky-now Mark Stewart-and other Marines were badly wounded), 1st Platoon, Echo Co., 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, Vietnam (1968-69). Please contact me if you remember me. Please contact me if you were part of the "operation" that ended on Christmas Eve, 1968.

Additionally, does anyone remember my insertion on the Cuban/Russian Airfield in Grenada (Operation Urgent Fury). The Air Force pilot, a LtCol, who was already exhausted, flew me in his C-130, in total darkness/blackout conditions. Due to a last minute change of plans, I ended up alone on the airstrip, unarmed. Thank goodness the Army Rangers took care of me until I was later transported to the Marine assault ship (LPH). My mission-on behalf of the Director of Naval Intelligence- was to deliver a new satellite imaging system nicknamed FIST (Fleet Imaging Support Terminal) to support all of the armed services.

Semper Fi to all who served, especially my 2/1 comrades-in-arms.
