I served in the 129th Main Support Company from July '67 to June '68. Initially in Cam Ranh Bay as part of the 69th Maintenance Bn, it was deployed to Da Nang at the start of the Tet Offensive. From there to Dong Ha via the Cua Viet River while under fire and was finally located just outside of Quang Tri City where it provided limited support of efforts to relief Khe Sanh. In the Quang Tri area it was deactivated on paper and reactivated as HHC, 63rd Maintenance Bn. Most important year of my life!

Assigned to 15th Aerial Port Squadron Dec 68 to Dec 69 in DaNang. Witnessed firsthand the bomb dump explosions in the spring of 69 and caught a little scrapnel from a 140 mm rocket. Outside of that, it was a fairly un eventful year for me. My worse week was during April of 69. If you were there you know what I am talking about. If you wern't, you don't want to know.

Last Friday, a good buddy of mine drowned accidentally off the Eastern Shore of MD. His name was Robert (Bobby) Regan and he served with the 1st Provisional Rifle Co. in 1967-1968. He was 56. He is to be laid to rest on Thursday May 24th in E. New Market MD. He was always very proud of his unit and his service. I was with the 173rd ABN BDE and we argued forever about which unit was better. I know you guys will keep him in your prayers. We lost a good Marine and a good man.

I joined Co.E 2nd Bn 5th Marines on the 17-18 of Jan 68. On the 5th of Feb I was wouned and ended up at the 12 USAF Hospital in Vietnam. The Air Force took good care of us, a lot of Marines and Army grunts from the Tet fighting. I'm sorry to say I've never found a web site of the 12th AF Hospital,Hell I only remember the name of one Nurse, Major Mills,I thing she was the OIC of the ward I was on.Looking back I think Maj Mills may have been a Marine Corps D.I. before she took up with the Air Force! If any one who was at the 12th AF Hostpital in Feb-Mar 68 happens across this post I want to say Thanks Air Force, eveny you Maj Mills. I don't know how the AF signs things but in the Marine Corps it's SEMPER FI Air Force!
