I was with the lst cav div when it relieved the marines in the valley. They was kicked out by gen Westmoreland for not doing their duty and fighting. we had to shoot their artillery pieces, but they was froze up and had to clean them so we could fire them, they was rusted up so we could not open the breech block. they had artillery smoke rounds and he rounds lined up for a walkway so they would not get their boots muddy. and machine gun buttles laying all over the lz. they was a disgrace. it took us a week to clean up their guns and clean up the LZ.
