My husband, William Tommy Graves, served in the Air Force at Cam Ranh Bay in 66/67. He often mentions things from that year and wonders about those he served with. That year was tough on us both, as well as all who served during this time.
My heart and gratitude goes out to you all. We are so very proud of all you have done for this country. Know that you are loved and admired. God Bless.

what happened. I was put in to a position which put
me mentally deep down, and. I thought I was at the
of my life and just could not take another steep.
I was young and did stupid stuff like over doseing.
I am sorry and I love all you in the 1st mar. div.
an those who took care of me even though you too
might have been carrying the same mental load.
God loves you and so do I .

Ila Kerns wrote on March 24, 2021 at 10:00 pm
I have been looking for information about my uncle. His name was Fred Michael Kerns. He went by Mike. He was in Vietnam from October 1968- July 1969. He was in HML-167. On July 29th, 1969 the plane he was on UH-1E Tail #152418 went down due to a compressor stall near the South China Harbor. He was on the plane with 3 other men. 1 survived. The two who perished along side my uncle were CPT Roger Parry Harrell and LCP Daniel Lewis, who was a member of the VMO-2 but had requested special permission to fly with the HML-167. My uncle spent every spare minute he had at the orphanages. He spent time at Sacred Heart in Da Nang and at China Beach Orphanage. He fell in love with a little girl around 6-7 years old named Hung or Hong. He had plans of adopting her and bringing her back to the US when his tour was over. However, he didnt make it back and our family lost all contact with her. She would be in her 40s now and I would love to be able to contact her. For some reason, my grandfather believes she is in the United States, but I am unsure. My grandparents used to send toys and clothes to the orphanages and when my uncle died, it tore our family apart. I am trying to mend some broken hearts with positive information about my uncle and basically just get some information for myself. My uncle died twenty years before I was born so all I know of him are stories, pictures, and letters. If anyone has any information about Gary Prewitt, another man who claimed to know my uncle on www.flyarmy.com in his Killed in Action report. He claimed he helped ID their bodies at the Charlie Med., the other men who perished with my uncle, the little orphan girl, or my uncle please email me rather than responding to this guestbook. I'd love any information. God Bless you all.
