I am called Jeff by my friends, and, in Vietnam, was often called "Sandy". I found a fellow medic that had served at the 61st Medical Detachment (General Dispensary) with me for a time during 1968 (we were there for Tet). I have gotten his email address and shall contact him soon, although his submission was in 2005. Just in case anyone else from the 61st, or from HQ IIFFV, to which we were attached is reading. I ran the Pharmacy for all of 1968, and also drove an ambulance, mostly when I first got there. My MOS was 91Q20, and I arrived an E-2 Private and left an E-5 SP5 (ain't war wonderful). After Vietnam, I was at Madigan GH, Ft. Lewis, WA for about a year and a half, then discharged and returned to Indiana where I was born. I have loads of memories from Vietnam, mostly good believe it or not. We had the tightest, best trained staff that one could imagine. Our dispensary served support troops on the Plantation Compound of II Field Forces HQ, approx. 4000 soldiers. We usually had 12 medical enlisted men, an XO, 4 doctors, 2 dentists, and a dog named Colonel. We did MEDCAP in the outlying villages, and had an orphanage at Ho Nai, run by the "Brothers of the Cross", who were a couple of Catholic Priests, that we supported a little with medical advice, treatment, and occasionally a few "expired" medicines. I was fortunate to have served with some of the best men in uniform (although we seldom wore the whole uninform unless going to Long Binh. I hope someone is searching this site, and contacts me-someone from the 61st, especially.

I was with MACS 4 on MONKEY MOUNTAIN.
I worked in the motor pool. 70/71. If you were there during that period I probably hauled you to China Beach or on a skivey run.
