USMC, Paris Island, Oct 1966. Went to Da Nang in Sept. of 1968 with VMFA 334 (Com/Nav shop). First 120 days spent with group guard defense force. In spring of 1969 sent to Chu Li with VMFA 115 and then to VMFA-323. Mostly remember orphans living in the landfill. Whole time is now a blur in my memory. Did go to Hong Kong once as a courier and Australia for RnR. Still have a few dream experiences. Have made "Run for the wall" few times, try and remember those who didn/t make it. Only kids lose in war.

I was stationed at Da Nang AFB from 1963 to !964 in the crash rescue dept. 23rd Air Base Group. Looking at the photos on your site brought back a lot of memories. On our days off we would rent mopeds and travel around Da Nang area.We had to ride a military ferry to the Chinna Beach area because the bridge was out of service at time.We made it to Marble Montain and took a lot of pictures. There where Buddist monks there that took us in the caves.Never seen a place like it.If you ever get to visit that area you don't want to miss it. I know a lot has changed since 1964 from some of the photos on your site . Thanks for the site .Made a lot friends and still in touch with some I served with.
