I served on MACV Advisory Team 9, Mobile Advisory Logistics Team 006, 16 Mar '70 to 12 Mar 71. Of my 36 years of Federal Service, those 12 months are the ones of which I am most proud. Great website!! Pass me another Ba Muoi Ba. Also loved Dao Phu Quoc.
We should remember that not all who read these posts understand or remember all of the abbreviations. POWs, MIAs always in our hearts.

My father, James Rebant Jr., was in the Marine Corp from 1966-1967 and was stationed in Chu Lai (Mag 12?). He recently passed away and I am looking for ANY information from those who served with him. He was a combat engineer and worked with the water supply at the base...if this information helps. I'm looking for any stories (good or bad) that you could share with me. He spoke very little of Vietnam and now, due to his passing, I am relying on others for info. Thank you in advance.

I was a radio operator with H&S 26th Marines on Hill 55 '66-'67. I hate to say it, but I have no memories of peoples names there, but I wanted to say thank you to those that brought me home. I lost many friends in that war. We never fought for political reasons, we fought for each other so that they could come home too

i served with 1/28 inf. charlie co. big red one in vietnam. we lost a lot of good grunts , especially in the tet offensive. in dec. 1967 we were at bu dop reinforcing a special forces camp. it was hell! while out on a patrol one day a very good friend and i were sent out to recon the area. we came upon a vc outpost with 2 vc taking a nap. we took them out. my friend grapped an a - k 47 rifle and we haull ass out of there. by than the other vcs became aware and started firing toward us. we joint the rest of the company and pulled back to the perimeter. we were not awarded in medals for our action. in another patrol combat photographer horst faas was wounded. i was not too far behind him in line. my friend got killed in the first day of the tet offensive with only days left in country. he was the best a hardcore grunt with a lot of notches in his belt. his name was charles permaloff. if anybody is out there please make contact. i have some pictures and some newspaper clips of the unit in action.
