I am looking for info regarding my fathers tour in Vietnam. I have alot of photos, a good deal of non-specific information, and some specific information regarding areas he was in.
SFC CHARLES A. JACKSON AKA "BIG JACK", 1967 and 68,( from Maine), he serverd in many areas to name some Lz Baldy, Chippewa, and quite a few more. Trying to locate specific information about his tour there. He was career Army, awarded Bronze Star, Vietnamese Cross, tech service medal etc etc ... The list goes on. He recieved many comendations for his bravery and sacrifices. The last of which was in regards to Cancer from Agent Orange. He died ( Retired Army) May 17th 1990 at age 53. He was 31 in Nam and I understand he was originally sent there to work supply and troop orientation etc and ended up in a platoon leader situation right after arriving in country. We have an article from 1967 regarding a huge run in with VC resulted in 200+ Vc dead, and a corresponding article regarding an unnamed SFC who participated in the fight as a Platoon Leader and showed up at an LZ quite some distance and in a position he was not originally assigned, when questioned as to how he came to be there, he declined to answer. My father was a very take charge military man, and never once strayed from his beliefs that he was a defender of the greatest country in the world. From what we have gathered, that SFC was my father.
After the incident described in the articles, it was decided after a commendation that the war was best served by assigning my father to duties befitting his particular area of expertise. He went on to be assigned to many different locations, some in Laos and Cambodia. He was involved in many small insertion ops, and some not so small ops. One particular fight wiped his Platoon, only 2 survivors, my father being one.
I would like to find out more about my fathers tour there for historical reasons. He was an advisor towards the end of his tour ( MACV) possibly team 35 or 46 not sure.( photos with caption TEAM JACKSON) He was also acting jack Field Top at Lz Baldy for a time, from info gathered.
My family is a military family and most of my relatives, including my siblings and myself, have served. My sister and I are both 100% disabled Army Vets. My youngest brother is also a disabled vet, we are very proud of our father and wish to gather more info on his career. If you knew him, or of him, please respond. Thank you, and God Bless our Vets.

Was attached to Delta Company 3rd Mps (Armed Forces Police) 68 - 70 DaNang. Battalion was out at 327 near Dog Patch but we were stationed in the city at Phun n Phu and then moved out to new barracks in late 69 by the enlisted club. Not sure if I miss Nam or just miss the great friends and my youth? Hope all of you are doing well and would like to hear from any of the old gang.

I haven't seen a whole lot of pictures of Camp Red Devil online so I thought I'd add a few of my own. I was at Quang Tri and Red Devil from July 68 to July 69. If you'd like to see the pictures, go to the following site:

I collect 1st Infantry Division items. Recently I came across a helmet with 1st Inf Div markings. It has MP on the front with a red band around the helmet and the 1st Div patch painted on the left & right side. I thought it may be from the 1st MP Co with the red band. If anyone is familar with this style MP helmet I'd like to here from you. Thanks.

I served with India 3-4 and Alpha-1-4 at Phu Bai from May 1965 to Oct 1966 as an 0311 grunt. If anyone remembers those days I would like to say Hello. Remember the Bamboo Bar? I helped build it. I'm getting old now but I still think often of my time and buddies in the Nam. Semper Fi.
