My father served with the 4th Infantry Div. in Plieku from 69 to 71. His name was (okie) David Lee Whittenberg. He passed away from alcoholism October 25th 1994. If anyone is still alive that served with him , I would like to know more about him and his time there.

This website is absolutely wonderful. Thank you for creating it. I was born in Saigon and left the United States with my parents in 1975 as a small child. I completed my undergraduate from the Johns Hopkins University. Today, I am a doctoral candidate working on my PhD. Although my family is Buddist, I became a Christian in college and now attend a great Bible-based church. Thank you so much for your sacrifice and for the lives of so many men who died in the Viet Nam War. Without you, I would not be here today. Thank you so much.

I served with NSA Deep Water Piers at Danang 68-69, and spent a few days and nights at Marble Mountain during which time I had the closest encounters with VC firing up at the mountaintop positions, and Marines returning fire. Beautiful place, even in those days.
