IN 1966 TO 1967 MY BASE GOT HIT A NUMBER OF TIMES I SAW A NUMBER OF MY AIRMAN HURT AND KILLED THANK GOD I MADE IT OUT AND HOW LUCKEY I WAS

I served in 204MI at Phu Bai, as a convoy driver, carrying troops and do missions in Quan Tri, Dong Hoi. And Hue, also I do duty with the 4th Inf.at Dakto Air Strip as commo and suply water and dump the trash.Hard working days, but proudly handle the jobs.to all the friends thats we never seen in our life, but strongly lives in our memory.

IN COUNTRY 65-LATE 66. THERE ALL KINDS OF STORIES RUMORS AND BULLSHIT. I WAS ATTACHED TO 3/3 H&S CO.. I WAS NEVER KNOWN OF. I DID WHAT EVER I WAS TOLD TO . HUMPED AMMO,STOOD POSTS ETC . I WAS ASSIGNED TO GUARD MY COL. COL MUIR ON THE DAY HE WAS KILLED. I HAD JUST GOT BACK FROM A DETAIL HE HAD SENT ME ON CAUSE THE RADIO MAN COULD NOT GET THRU. THE COL. SAID FOR ME TO TAKE A BREAK FOR HE AND THE RADIO MAN WHERE GOING TO TAKE A LOOK SEE. I ADVISED THE OLE MAN THAT I WAS TO BE WITH HIM 24/7. HE ADVISED THAT; "THAT AN ORDER MISTER"!! I WAS NOT ABOUT TO DISOBEY A DIRECT ORDER FROM MY COL..FOR THOSE WHO WHERE THERE THEY KNOW THE REST AND THE ENDING OF THIS STORY. HE NEVER GOT TO GO TO WASHINGTON FOR HIS PROMOTION . TO THIS DAY I WILL NEVER FRGET THAT AND WONDER WHY I DIDNT DISOEY HIS ORDER???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
