Stationed with the 528 LM Co. in cha rang valley along highway 19 about 30 km from Qui Nhon from Dec 69 until June 71. we could see the lights of Phu Cat AB when something was happening when the lumbering gun ships began flying around our perimeter and those gattling guns started blazing.

I was with alfa co.1st battalion 7th marines. I was a raidioman for the cupp units working out of lz baldy and lz ross in 1970 I was their when we were attacked on lz ross jan 7 when we came in ffrom the bush to be trained for th cupps

My dad, Roger Dale Brown of Oakman, Alabama, recently passed away and as I was going through some of his things I found a picture of him and he wrote on the back L Z Ross 25 DEC 69. I was just looking for some info on the area and wanting to find anyone who may have served with my dad in the Marines.

Proudly served with the 101st Airborne Division as part of Btry A 1st bn (ambl) 321st Arty from July 71 to Feb 72. The base camp was Phu Bai, but most of my time was spent on firebases. I was part of the FDC.

If anyone else who was serving at that time with that unit I would love to hear from you. Two names I remember are Chris Bartlett and Tom Springer.

switchboard in Aug65. Also was Jeffries hit a power line in the compound.

Unit:Co A, 1st BN, 503D INF, 173d ABN BDE, USARV

KIA in Vietnam Nov 8, 1965, "SKY SOLDIERS", Operation HUMP, Location: Bien Hoa Province, South Vietnam,outskirts of Saigon, where 48 soldier in this unit lost they lives.

Some of his military affiliations prior to his death:
511th Airborne, 1st Platooon, Co L, Fort Campbell, KY (Strength From Above) ; RA 14 433 618/ 101st Div 187th, Fort Campbell, KY (Screaming Eagles/Rakkasan); 508 Airborne Div, Fort Benning, GA; USAH Ausgburg, .

I was 6 y/o when he was killed & don't remember alot about him. So, please contact me if you knew my father.

Looking for Mike Frerichs. Can't be sure of last name spelling? Red Ball Express, 1966/67. Our base was right next to a whore house and Ton Sa' Nute Airbase. I think he said he was from Indianapolis?

I have recently been back to 'Nam to mark the 41st anniversary of the Battle of Dak To and Ben Het(May and June 1969) which I participated in.

inf was there in tet offences of 68 of feb. Da Nang
Hue and serveral LZ That I dont recall all their names except for one which is kham duc.it was hell there.
