I served as a 52B20 or Generator Repairman for the 191st MI Company in Phuoc Vinh from Feb 70 to March 1971. I also picked up food for our 220 person messhall, hauled water for showers, picked up Daily Hires every morning and showed movies to the guys every night. I'm looking for any other soldiers who were in our company when I was there.

I've searched every Folder in this Board( I have 9 to go) for members of our Eighty-six Signal Bn and yours is the first FROM YOUR TIME IN COUNTRY that doesn't mention the Thirty-six Signal Bn.
I was in Cu Chi and S-1 of the 86th Sig Bn from January to April 25 '70, when I moved to My Tho (579th Sig Co not 10th Sig Co as mentioned in another post) and soon thereafter to Ben Tre and its 535th Sig Co. From there in August 1970, I left for home in a Coma, but that's another story. I'm posting this here because most of the messages to the ones I've found
have bounced back to me undeliverable; the same thing that would happen to people who replied to most of my earlier posts.
I don't think the 36th was there in 1970, when I was, but could have been.
If anyone knows the story please e-mail and I hope to be still where I say I am or post it here.

I was hoping someone could shine some light on my fathers Missions or involvment with the Vietnamn War. I dont know much however when he was listed in the army He Was Louis A Hernandez. He was apperently a Green Beret or possibly with a group call mac-sog. If anyone knows my father please contact me at my email listed. He is very sick on the bottle and will never talk about the war. I just wanted help understanding or just to verify he was actually there. Thank you to all vets for keeping our country safe.

I served at Korat Air Base, 60 miles off the Cambodian border with the 388th Combat Support Group, F-4 and F-105 TAC Fighter Wing, 1970-71. Our sister wings were the 366th in DaNang and the 355th in Taklai. I just want to recognize all the dedication and sacrifice made by all U.S. troops in all branches during the Viet Nam War; be they pilots, sailors, infantry, rifleman or cooks. It is interesting to read in 2010, all the "second guessing" of our service in that war by those who were children or not yet born in that time period from 1962-1974. It was a different time and a different war unlike Iraq today. It is near impossible for most, now, to offer valid comment on what U.S. troops did or did not do in this war. Especially from those who now "just" read about our war or, better yet, "visit" Viet Nam and find fault with our service. The American G.I.'s tour in S.E. Asia back then was neither a visit nor a holiday vacation. Our generation did not send our sisters, wives and mothers off to fight a war on foreign land while we stayed home as young men and went to school and played video games. In our time, the U.S. armed forces were staffed with "Regular" troops. We did not rely on Reserve and Guard units that are constantly rotated between combat duty and stateside assignments. It would help those who wish to comment on our service to remember, it was a much different world back in the 60's and 70's and it is hard to see clearly looking back from 2010 without "having been there and done that". We were there and we know. Next time you speak to a U.S. soldier, current or vet, be sure to thank them for your freedom.
Sincerely,
a U.S. Troop
