Looking for anyone remembering an Army helicopter pilot named Mike Tinker (very tall, very blue eyes) served in Viet Nam during late 1965 thru 1966. He was my boyfriend and I was not allowed to know where he was based. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross with oak clusters and was returned to Texas to teach flight school. Upon discharge, he was hired within Alaska as a pilot with a private company and was killed on his first flight due to massive engine failure while flying over the mountains and having no place to set down. It was tragic after having served in Viet Nam. He was from Pomona, CA and a perfect boyfriend, loved dearly by his family and I'll never forget him, but would like to know where and who he served with, anything about those times which I know were painful. I lost many, many friends in VN and it breaks my heart. I worked for an aerospace company who made missiles and the Stinger weapons. When they were stacked on the docks, I'd pass by each case and give them a two-finger-kiss and salute that they saved our guys and would help end the war and all the death and dispair we all suffered. I'm so proud of all the people I knew who served every branch of service and all those I didn't know who served with them. I never forget their courage and sacrifice on Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, or any honor to their service.....and I still meet veterans who wish to talk about their experiences and remember the 100s of letters I wrote to friends and guys I didn't even know because they had no one at home. A lot of cookies with love went over there!!! Glad that is all over and now pray constantly for our people in Afghanistan and other dangerous areas. Like the saying goes: "When will humans stop making war and just make love?"
