Stationed at Phan Rang AB from Feb. 1969 to 1970. Assigned to 614th Tactical Fighter Squadron (the Lucky Devils) and was a crew cheif on a F-100D (VP-814). My pilot was Capt. John Casper who later in life went on to become a shuttle commander with NASA, great guy.
I hated the boredom of the flight line so I volunteered to work for Red Horse where we built the covered revetments that housed the planes I worked on. Best friend over there was a fellow New Jerseyian, Jeffrey Trochelman. Enjoyed going to Singapore on R&R, beautiful place. God bless all you who put your time in the trenches, your country is proud of you.
