I served October 68- October 69..with Co B 2nd Bn 18th Infantry (2/18) 1st Infantry Division. We came in by way of Long Binh..It was @ night but very HOT..humid..I remember vividly how it was difficult to breath the air..the SMELL of death all over, went to a stageging area with tin roofs that was humid and smelly..that same night we moved out to what i found out to be DIAN, on the way driving the highway with no lights all you could hear was BOOM BOOM POP POP POP POP/ TRACERS..Just think this was just STARTERS..(25 Oct) After being in DIAN for a short period (our rear) then to the WATERPLANT..(home)which was in the Thu Doc area @ Hwy 13 (1?) anyways W to Saigon E to Long Bein. I would like to just read a post or two of ANYONE being there @ the time. The WATERPLANT housed B Co2/18th ...LRRPs 1/4 Cav..Do anynoe REMEMBER mamason selling those noodles/beer? Remember the village right across the street out the west gate?? O'yea answer me this ...one night i was on sentry(two of us) @ that bunker on the north end across the road comming into the MAIN gate going toward mamason's place..one night some guy's was stationed at the main gate..they were trying to get some of the night girls in..ANYWAY they took the COWBOY'S motorbike and they were into it ..think they kept the bike..do you remember this? During the same night Sgt Needham caught me nodding..I heard him but it was TOO late..he had Evan's as a witness..I had to see Cpt. Barthalomew@ the cp and got wrote up..After explaining it was put on paper but i wasn't pulled off any duties..Sgt Needham did'nt joke..Evans didn't want to witness BUT...LOL. What happened on that night was EVERYONE (not B Co) was walking back and fourth to the gate, to mamason drinking talking etc ..we were INSIDE the perimeter..we come in off BUSH if it's your turn it's your turn ..you already tired...after awhile only watching the guy's just haveing FUN you (i said to hell with this) mad as HELL already/ thats how that happened ..NEVER in the bush..Like i said i'd like to read a POST from ANYONE that was there at the time.Men from the 1/4 Cav..that we had to kick their butts all the time when we had the time to play FOOTBALL..I knew this would start something..The PARCIAL diary that i have says 1/4 Cav won LOL PEACE ALL!!!
