I served with 1st Battallion 44th Artillery which was attached to the 108th Artillery Group. Headquarters was in Dong Ha. I was with D Battery
in Phu Bai 1968. Dusters and Quad 50's. Our unit
was involved with the battle for Hue during the Tet
Offensive. I was a Battery Clerk for HQ. I have been reviewing this site for possible contact with someone I served with. I visited the Vietnam Memorial a few years ago and found two names of
soldiers I knew who were killed during the war. I am impressed with so many students studying this war. Nice to know we are not completely forgotten.
Thanks to everyone who thanked me. I never thought of myself as a hero. Welcome Home.

My uncle served in Vietnam I believe from 1966-1968 in the Army, his name was Otis Gwyn, his nickname was "Goat". My uncle passed a couple of years ago, and after his death we found out he received a bronze star. If any one can give us any information about my uncle, where he served or just info about who he was during this time. He never spoke about it, but as his family we would like any information we can get. Pleas email me. I have a new respect Veterans. Past and Present. Thank You for any info

Arrived in country July 1966 from JUMP SCHOOL.
Assigned 1st Platoon, Co. B, 1st Bgde, 2/502.
Med Vac - Japan in November 1966.
Returned to Unit from Hospital in April 1967.
Completed IC tour and reassigned to 3rd Bgde, 82 Abn Div. Deployed - Detroit City Riots summer 1967. January 1968 re-deployed (overnight) with 3rd Bdge 82nd Abn Div (Recon) back to RVN (TET).
Returned home to Ft Brag early out for public service employment.
I'm looking to hear from anybody who might have been with me?
I remember my point back-up man on his M-79, Alzamoro from NJ / M-60 man David Higging from Calf. (we were in hosp in Japan together) / Stanley (Rockey) LaRochelle from Rhode Island / Billy Bear / Sqd-Sgt Bess, 1st Plt-Sgt. Taylor...
There is so much more I can't or don't want to recall, but I guess that comes with the process of aging.
If I don't get any response to this message, I'm sure we'll all see each other at the final formation before our greator.
May God Bless America, may he embrass those who have gone before us, and protect those who are serving Americas cause this day.
PEACE / LOVE / PRAYERS +

The person below was trying to contact me in 2006. I just saw the post today. The email in no longer valid and I cant get a phone # for him in Wesley IA.
Name: George Woolf Bennett

Date: May 03, 2006 - 08:03 AM (pacific)
I got in country in May 70 at Dong Tam fro a few months, then was sent to solid anchor/nam can around July 70. I'm looking for Mark Fontaine or any other HM that was there at that time. There was no Doc. there at the time and I really need some help in verifacation of some wounds I reiceived. Of course the VA can't find my records, but I have been in touch with other Vets on different sites. Some have been very very helpful in my quest for info. Hope some one out there can be of assistance for me.I've gone through a PTSD program in Iowa.I can hardly remember what happened yesterday, let alone 34 yrs. ago. Now they are talking about sending me to Topeka Tramma center in Kansas.I'm really a mess they say.I know that there others out there that don't even know they have a problem, so I sent a letter to congressman Tom Latham of Iowa to try and get the message out to the public for some awarenees for other VETS.
Thanks in advance to any one who may be of some help, welcome home BROS.
