I can't explain it, but this morning I have been preoccupied with my time in Vietnam. I arrived in Danang in June '69 at the age of 18. I thought about my 2nd night in country at Camp Tien Sha and the attack on a freighter in the habor. I remembered the time when the ammo dump was attacked and the sounds and smoke that lingered. I thought about the rocket attack one night on the inside of Marble Mountain, and how the dirt rained on my bunker. That was over 36 years ago,and yet it was just yesterday. I remembered the "Dear John" audio tape from my fiance, and the hurt I felt and carried for 22 years. After alot of alcohol for alot of years, I looked her up in NC in '91, went to see her and brought closure to that aspect of my experience. Today I will honor my Nam years, and put it away tomorrow. To my Nam brothers, thanks for letting me write this today.

I severed on L Z Baldy and Frie Support Ross from Nov,1969 to May 1970. I was with MCB 7 Seabees and was on Ross January 6,1970 when it was over run. The area they came through was our area on front side of the camp. I was proud to sever with all the Marines on both base and have lots of good thing to say about all the persons on both camp.

First arrived Siagon April 1966, then reassigned to the 138th Aviation Co.- ASA - DaNang in June 66.
Several T-D-Y trips to Dong Ha in support of the Marines on the DMZ. Second tour was T-D-Y from Udorn Thailand to Da Nang & Dong Ha.
Worked with a lot of mighty fine men, and we lost some too. We had two Vietnamese nationals working for us in Da Nang = Mutt & Jeff -
does anyone remember them??
Harold Sens & I were the first EM on the roster for the 138th at it's inception - June 1966. Colors were retired in 1999 - Ft. Rucker Alabama - I think.
I think of the 138th often - - -
