I am the mother of Shreen Marie Loring. Her father Spec 4 Barry Lewis Loring served in Nam . I am trying to locate anyone that knew Barry or served with him while he was there. The years are '70-'72? I am not sure of the years. I know they are about right. Barry was killed in '80 in a motorcycle accident. He served with a man named Dennis { Frenchy} Proulx as I have found pictures on sites with Dennis in them along with Barry. This is for medical for our daughter any info would be apprciated. Thank You in advance for your help. My email address is [email protected]

45th MID located near the Troposcatter at the end of the runway, beyond the 5th Special Forces Group, in Nha Trang. They first came to Vietnam with the cover: USARLE = "United States Army Research and Liaison Element" They were later change to "D" Detachment, of 1st MI Bn (ARS).
I was one of the Interpretation Operations Officers in the unit. I also spent much time interacting with all the major units in the I and II Corps areas. Primarily US, Korean, Vietnamese and others at times that I had worked with in past years.

I am 32-year old half-Vietnamese half-American girl whose American birth father (surname LEWIS) was American soldier in Cam Ranh Bay in 1971. LEWIS work in ARMY MESS HALL "down the hill" at Cam Ranh, his duties were supervise cooks, inventory/order food, plan menus, payroll. Is it possible you knew Mr. LEWIS at Cam Ranh? He left Vietnam Aug. or Sept. 1971 to return home and I born 7 months later March 1972. He approx. 30 yrs old then (so would be approx. 67 year old now) medium height, weight, brown hair. He knew my mom (NHAN KIM HUYNH) pregnant and he not want to leave her. Mom lived in village and work as his typist.
Me, my mom & 2 sisters came to United States 1989 and we live in Tx. now. I marry Vietnamese man and have 2 beautiful children.

Can you please tell me if you know how I find information for Army personnel UNITS #'s at Cam Ranh (I do not know Unit #, but transport drivers, cooks could possibly remember him). Without Unit # or Serial # I cannot extend my search.

If you can help me I appreciate it very much. I pray everyday for my father to be searching for me too. Thank you for any help you can give me. Y E N
