I am searching for some informations about Nam since I have just started to write my autobiography, when I came across this page.
I was born in Vietnam in the 29th Evacuation Hospital (SMBL), 1968. My father was Walter Grunt, a German and my mom Chan, a chinese. My father passed away since I was 19, and I am lack of so many informations about Nam during the period we lived there. My dad was transferred to Cambodia around 1973...?
Can anyone remember him??? I would love to hear from you. Please write to: [email protected]
Thanks!

I am a graduate student at the New School University in New York. I am taking a class that examines Viet Nam and the media. My professor included this fantastic website in the course material.
Keep up the work. I particularly fine the history portion interesting and helpful in understanding Vietnam and other war/conflicts.

I was in Vietnam from Jan 67 to Jan 68 with HHB,2nd Bn 19th ARTY, 1st CAV DIV. I was in Bn FDC. Its been a long time and I've forgotten most of the names. Would like to hear from anyone who might remember me. When I left LTC Gillespie was BC, CPT Stadler was "I think" FDO, and LT Lambert also worked in the FDC section. In late 85 I saw a taped interview with LTC Gillespie and talked with then BG Stadler. If any of you 229th AVN guys ever landed at LZ English " late 67 into 68" I was one of the ones who built the A-frame hooch. Donohue (spelling) do you remember the sniper taking a shot at us while we were servicing the generators? GLENN, thanks for your friendship all these years, I'm sorry I have not been the friend to you You were to me. Would love to hear from any 229th AVN guys if you remember seeing the A Frame hooch. Glenn and I built it out of ammo boxes we helped unload at the ammo dump.

I was assigned, to the 40th Signal battalion in 1967/1968. I met a great group of Lineman, I suppose most of them are hot stickers by now, work for PG&E (God Bless Them.) I've always been a little shit with a big heart, but they said I could'nt lean out far enough on the pole. So I went to work for LMMS, I've been working to protect our kid's, in any way I can since 1975. I remember how scared I was getting shot, at or mortared. I was 19 and growing up fast! Maybe too, fast!!!
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!!

I served in Nam form mothers day 1965 till Mar of 66. Helicopter assault from the USS Iowa Jima. Landed at Chu Lai. It has been over 35 years and i am now 59 years old. I can't remember the Battallion or division i was in. I keep thinking it was 3rd bat 3rd marines. Was there anyone on the USS Iowa Jima that remembers the landing and unit designation.
