My father served in Vietnam,he saw alot of horrors. It changed his life so much, mine too,I never understood why he was the way he was,now I understand.People need to understand how being put into a war changes someone, how it will affects them.in the end everyone suffers....I hope one day, there will be no more war.....its just senseless killing.......it needs to stop......

Hello to everyone who reads this. I am trying to locate picture or get a story for my fathers scrapbook to fill in the gaps. His name is Curtis Larsen or as others would say " Magnet Ass " he was the crew chief of a CH-46 that crashed and burned in the hillside of 881. The pilot and co-pilot of the crash were fine but my father and the gunner were injured. If anyone who served in the HMM-262 or other medvac units know who my father was and could tell me a story or two. Or if you have photos I would love to see them and read the stories to fill in the gaps he hasn't filled in his book. Thanks to all.

flew A1s with 602nd Air Commando Sq. 1967, Search and Rescue escort for Jolly Greens and strike FAC on the Ho Chi Mihn trail, mostly Laos but also part of most missions in N. Vietnam, had 100 missions up N. , 183 total. Flew from Udorn and Nakhom Phanom Thailand and Da Nang. Saw no atrocities but a lot of day to day courage, and am proud of what we tried to do for S. Vietnam, ashamed we lost our will.

Served with the 1st Air Cavalry Division July 1970 - June 1971, originally out of Phuoc Vinh in III Corps and later out of Da Nang. Assignments ranged from infantry platoon leader to base security officer. Although I was affiliated with USARV I often yearned to serve with MACV so I could learn the language and help the people. As a very young Christian, I could say that it was in Vietnam that God first touched my heart to be a missionary.
