Hello fellow vets and interested veiwers, I served two 9 month terms in VN during 1966-1968 with MCB 10 the fighting Seabees. Duty stations of Da Nang, Khe Sahn, Dong Ha/ Quang Tri, and drilled some water wells somewhere near Cambodia west of Siagon. It seems like an eternity ago and I have talked little of those times with anyone either vet or civilian. My Father served in WWII, Pacfic and I have a son who served in Desert Storm and is about to leave for Bosnia. We are all proud to have answered the call of our country and respect and pray for all of those who have and will. To all of you my kindess reguards.

My father was a CB in Vietnam and served two consecutive tours. He told me he had difficulty trying to cope once he came back home... so he volunteered for a second tour. At that time my mom had just given birth to their first child.
That child, my brother, died in a tragic accident in 1986. Dad told me last month through tears that he thinks more frequently of Nam than he does of his lost son. He feels terrible guilt about that. Dad rarely speaks of Vietnam but when he shares with me I feel honored.
I am so proud of my Dad and all of those who served.
You will not be forgotten.

I served with A Co., 1st AntiTank Bn., and H&S Co., 1st Tank Bn., 1st MarDiv from late '67 until early '69 after extending my tour to get an early discharge from the USMC. I tried very hard for many years to put the memories of Vietnam behind me. But, as I get older, the ghosts come back to haunt me more often now. Not just of my Marine brothers, but of the friends I grew up with that I lost then. I would very much like to go back to Vietnam someday to see if I could leave the ghosts and the memories behind. God bless and take care.
